Better news on the estate agent front.

One of the agents went out to the property on Tuesday and came back with her report. Fantastic. I thought, she will be able to give me her pitch to get the work, her costs, what she thought of the property and of course the all important expected price.

What then followed was something akin to a game of cat and mouse as I tried to tease out of her a price. Her opening gambit was to ask me what I thought the property was worth. Forgive me but is that not what I am asking an estate agent to do. Having refused to give in to this for fear that she would agree with my figure, she came up with a figure and the dance continued.

I had to ask how they were going to market the property, what media they were going to use, whether they would print brochures and finally ask what there fee was going to be. When I say it was a game of cat and mouse, it was probably just a game of cat! An interesting sales technique to say the least.

Surely the next estate agent would be a different experience.

And indeed it was. The second agent came back to me to say that she could not get access. She tried the passcode that I had given her without success. It would of course help had she gone to the correct property. I am selling "West" and not "East". Apologies accepted and she was high tailing it back out to the property..........
